Lower back pain and sciatica
Done my back in last year, got over it but just had a relapse - fucking lower back pain and pain down my right arse cheek and leg (shooting pain and numbness)

Dosed up on paracetamol to get me through the working day but when it comes in spasms walking like a raspberry.

Should I just man up or go and get one of those poofy heat patch things or stronger pain killers?

You cunts??

Re: Lower back pain and sciatica
I had a herniated disc back in 2000... have scarring around the sciatic nerves .. have had relapses ever since... does settle down but I find it's more a case of just dealing with it... sciatica is pretty much daily... went through a period of having tylex etc but to be fair they are a one ticket to a nut house. Had injuries all through my sporting life, broken bones, torn achilles, dislocated knees and nothing came close to when me back went... I think the body and your mind just learns to cope with it as time goes by (well in my case anyway)

Via the quack mate.

Otherwise combine over the counter paracetamol and codeine 2 x 500mg/6mg with up to 1200mg ibuprofen. You can take simultaneously but make sure you eat first.

Same dose every 4 hrs. Don't let the pain return.

Number one cause of sciatica....Being overweight.

Fatty tissue pressing against the nerve...

Excess weight doesn't help try running it off.

A good physio is a good idea, along with pain killers.

Acupuncture is a theatrical placebo so it works like a placebo but isn't intrinsically helpful.

Funny as it was road running that actually caused my back problems.... as my physio (John Gowan the Southend Utd physio) said the human body has not been constructed to pound on hard concrete ... and pratts like me tried to run through the pain...

True NS, it was meant in jest, run on grass is recommended with cushioned running shoes. Best to diet first to reduce stress on joints and muscles if your a big beast. Swimming is best if running causes problems, I just don't into gargling others urine and faeces.

Physio using the McKenzie method advised for lower back pain and sciatica before the above.

I had a problem with my back a few years ago. Went to get out of bed one morning and couldn't move. Scariest moment of my life.Had acacupuncture to ease it. Had some tests and developed
a prolapsed disc. Bottom line was my disc was like a pancake and flapping on my nerves. Fucking ladders had caused it. Get it sorted or you will end up in a wheelchair.

Re: Lower back pain and sciatica
I had acupuncture for lower back pain.

Absolutely did nothing for me.

Heat pads were OK until I discovered ice packs...

https://www.icepacks4less.co.uk/HotCold-Therapy-Accessories/Luxury-Holster-with-Elasticated-Strap

Buy half a dozen reusable gel packs and stick in the fridge. Buy a couple of those straps. Keep a couple of the gel packs at work.

even after your current situation calms down, as soon as you get the slightest twinge use the pack/strap on your back.

Worked for me.
